Here I would like to describe how whole project work little bit deeper

Ouessant sheep

The Ouessant (or Ushant) is a breed of domestic sheep from the island of Ouessant off the coast of Brittany. It is one of the Northern European short-tailed sheep breeds, together with several other types from Great Britain, Scandinavia and Germany. Also occasionally called the Breton Dwarf, it is one of the smallest breeds of sheep in the world. Rams are around 49 centimetres (19 in) tall at the shoulder, and the ewes about 45 centimetres (18 in).They are currently being raised in a number of European countries including Germany, France, and Great Britain.  more on

Software part:

Frontend  is running on wordpress with adjusted css and  we use javascript for feeding form

Backend is written in Csharp  and runing on linux  via .Net core 2.1

  1. Server side on Ubuntu 18
  2. Client side on Diet Pi

HW part:

Video stream:

Video is from  IP kamera  via  ffmpeg software running on webserver. We decode, edit video and encode again and send to youtube
Stream is 1280×720 px  h264  with additional layers like text and images.


Using WIFI from sheep house to my house, from house WIFI to my ISP. I have static IP and connection is 25/25 Mbits not guaranteed and impacted by weather. Streaming consume 3,5 Mbit/s upload.

Solar power plant:

(was build years before not for this project)  SOLAR PLANT  with 7 days history here online

  • 6x Amorphous solars panels with 55W  but  Amorphous panels are really cheap and  working nicely  under bad  solar condition. Disadvantage is taking too much space
  • Traction battery varta 105 Ah
  • MPPT Solar Charge Controller Regulator 30A 12V24V Auto LCD 30A Solar Panel Battery Charge Controller Regulators Tracer3210A
  • Voltage converter N0033 CARBOOST 12V/230V, 600W

As you can see this is not enough to power  all things just from solar  plant  for 24 hours with bad weather .  I have auto switcher from solar when battery is empty to land electricity 230v . Once battery is  full it switch back to solar plant.
